resistor color codes

To get the resistor value you start reading the resistor band from the side that doesn't start with gold or silver (or black).
Most resistor color codes have 4 or 5 bands.
If there are 4 or 5 bands the last band is the tolerance. Mostly this band is colored in gold or silver. The band before this is the multiplier and the bands before the value digits.
If the tolerance band is not gold or silver then you need to be careful to start reading the colors from the correct side. Look if there is a gap between the last band and the bands before. The bands that are clustered together need to be on the left and that's where you would start reading.
If the resistor only has 3 bands, then the first two are the value digits and the last one is the multiplier. The tolerance is always 20%.
If there are 6 bands the last band is the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), the second last is the tolerance and the one before is the multiplier.
